The Science Behind the LED Technology We Use
Safety, Data & Client Confidence.

Why Technology Selection Matters

At Lash Wellness Lab, we believe beautiful results must be supported by safe and reliable technology. We carefully evaluate and select every device and product used in our studio based on scientific safety data, regulatory compliance, and real-world performance.

For our LED lash services, we utilize a professionally certified LED curing system (Lash Plus), selected because it meets strict international safety standards while supporting consistent, comfortable application results.

Proven Optical Safety

One of the most common questions clients ask is whether LED curing light is safe near the eyes.

The LED system used in our studio has been evaluated under the international photobiological safety standard IEC 62471 and classified as Risk Group 0 (RG0 – Exempt). This is the safest classification possible, indicating no identified photobiological hazard under intended professional use.

The system operates at an extremely low optical output of approximately 0.06 watts. This output level is significantly lower than many commonly used cosmetic UV devices, such as UV nail curing lamps, which typically operate at much higher power levels.

In addition, the device emits only UVA and visible light (365–405 nm) and does not include UVB wavelengths that are commonly associated with skin damage or sunburn.
This combination of low output, controlled wavelength range, and professional safety evaluation is one of the key reasons we selected this LED technology for use in our studio.

Targeted Illumination Design

The LED system used in our studio is engineered with targeted illumination technology, allowing light to be directed specifically toward the lash bonding point rather than spreading across the eyelid or surrounding skin.

During treatment:

• Clients keep their eyes fully closed
• Light is directed only toward the adhesive curing area
• Protective eye patches are applied to shield the lower eyelid
• Each lash is flash-cured for approximately 1–2 seconds
• Total intermittent exposure typically remains limited to approximately 5–8 minutes per eye

This controlled design helps reduce unnecessary light exposure while supporting precise and stable adhesive curing.

Why We Selected LED Technology

We selected LED curing technology not only for performance, but because it supports a more controlled and comfortable application environment.

Benefits include:

• Reduced adhesive vapor exposure compared to traditional air-dry adhesives
• Faster and more consistent curing
• Improved retention and durability
• Increased comfort during application

Because the adhesive is cured during application, LED lash extensions are typically water-resistant immediately following treatment.

Global Compliance & Certification

The LED device used in our studio complies with multiple international safety and regulatory standards, including:

• IEC 62471 – Photobiological Safety
• FCC – Electrical and Wireless Compliance (United States)
• CE Mark – European Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards
• TELEC – Japanese Radio Compliance
• RoHS – Environmental Safety (restriction of hazardous materials)

These certifications confirm adherence to strict global requirements for optical, electrical, and environmental safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LED lash curing safe so close to the eyes?

Yes. The LED device is designed for precision cosmetic use. Light is directed only toward the lash bonding point while the eyes remain fully closed during treatment. The system is also classified as RG0 under international photobiological safety testing.

Does LED curing produce heat or discomfort?

No. The LED curing system operates at approximately 0.06 watts, which is extremely low output compared to many other beauty UV devices. Most clients do not experience heat or discomfort during treatment.

Is LED lash technology more comfortable than traditional lash glue?

Many clients report improved comfort because LED curing reduces the amount of time adhesive vapors are present during application. Individual sensitivities may vary.

How long is the total light exposure during a full set?

Each lash is cured for approximately 1–2 seconds. Exposure occurs intermittently, and total exposure per eye typically remains limited to several minutes.

Can LED curing damage the skin?

The device emits UVA and visible light only and does not include UVB wavelengths associated with skin damage. Light is directed toward the lash bonding point, and protective patches help shield surrounding skin.

Are LED lash extensions waterproof immediately?

Yes. Because the adhesive is cured during application, LED lash extensions are typically water-resistant immediately following treatment.
